Trail Running Factory Family got bigger last summer. Martyna, one of the co-founders is coming back on trails with baby Matylda. Since TRF family recently was gifted with several newborns & already bringing this new generation of runners on the trails, Martyna put some ideas, which could be useful while exploring surroundings with stroller:
1. Wait till the baby is ready and of course till your body is ready, as moms recovery is very important as well. The age recommendation says your baby should be at least 6x months.
2. Safety first. Use a stroller dedicated for running. Make sure you know how to use the gear, especially going downhill and uphill.
3. Run on a smooth paths. It can be trail but make sure it’s without small rocks and roots, as it will cause bouncing.
4. Adjust your training. You can run instead of walking with a stroller. Win-win situation for both of you. Do not plan a distance, but rather time which U normally spend on a stroll. For me it’s mostly a recovery runs.
5. Enjoy it!
Running with a baby is a good motivation to keep a weekly frequency and be consistent runner. With the support of my family I can arrange 3-4 training sessions per week and go running with Matylda. It’s always an extra time spent outdoors, which I much appreciate” – shares running-motherhood experience
Baby is just a perfect time planner or schedule changer, so be prepared to handle her/him with patience. Be flexible & adaptive to baby’s game rules. Just remember about the main goal and being #TrailRunningFactory family, we want to share our trail running experience & spend time on the most iconic trails in the world.
